CHICAGO, IL. The Scion Group announced today that Jason Taylor has been promoted to Senior Vice President, Advisory Services. One of North America’s leading experts in public-private partnerships for student housing, he will become the executive in charge of Scion’s advisory practice beginning March 1, 2016, as Eric Luskin, a Scion principal, becomes a Senior Vice President Emeritus.

Mr. Taylor joined Scion in 2004 and is now its longest-serving employee, having worked with over 100 educational institutions, not-for-profit foundations and private developers on a multitude of student housing matters, including planning, analysis, implementation and management. He has been Scion’s Vice President for Advisory Services since 2011, serves on the faculty of P3 industry groups and has presented extensively to organizations such as ACUHO-I, NACUBO and NACAS.

“Jason Taylor is eminently prepared to lead Scion’s advisory services practice,” said Robert Bronstein, Scion’s co-founder and President. “His decisive leadership, personal relationships throughout the sector and the depth of his advisory experience make him uniquely qualified for this role. I’m confident that under his guidance, we will continue to be a thought leader and preferred advisor in student housing.”

Mr. Taylor assumes this leadership role from Eric Luskin, who will take on an emeritus position in connection with his planned retirement. Mr. Luskin joined Scion in 2002 and was instrumental in establishing the firm as both a student housing operator and advisor to higher education. Eric Luskin guided the extraordinary growth of Scion’s advisory practice to serve 170 campus markets across 35 U.S. states, Canada, Mexico and the U.K., opening regional offices in Irvine and Toronto, and most recently to achieve record performance in 2015. He has also been integral in the development of many of Scion’s property operations initiatives, including designing and implementing its best-in-class Fair Housing training program.

“We celebrate Eric Luskin’s contributions to Scion over the past 14 years,” added Mr. Bronstein. “He has left an indelible mark on our company, its employees, our clients and partners. His mentorship and collegiality have made us better professionals, and we are fortunate to be able to continue to have him in the Scion family and to continue serving our clients.”

“I am grateful to have spent the past 14 years of my career with Scion and I’m deeply honored to have led our advisory services practice for the past eight years,” said Mr. Luskin. “I’m very proud of what we have accomplished together during a period of significant successes and challenges. I believe now is the right time to pass the torch to Jason and the strong leadership team that we have in place, who I know will deliver our vision of service excellence for many years to come.”

Added Mr. Taylor: “I am humbled and excited by this opportunity to lead our advisory services practice. It is only fitting that I am following in the path of my mentor and close friend, Eric Luskin. I hope to reward the confidence that he and our company’s principals have placed in me. We have a great team in place, and I look forward to working with them to grow our practice.”
