FORT MYERS, FL. Miromar Development has announced its engagement of The Scion Group to refine plans for the University Village project, a residential and commercial development adjacent to Florida Gulf Coast University. Scion will evaluate a project program aligned with the specific living preferences of the FGCU student population.
University Village will provide off-campus housing, retail shops and restaurants. The 100-acre property is located just south of the University campus, on Ben Hill Griffin Parkway at Estero Parkway. Miromar Development previously conducted numerous focus groups, the results of which will be integrated into Scion’s evaluation.
“Our charge in this engagement is balancing financial performance with the creation of a community that supports academic pursuits and reflects student interests,” said Eric Luskin, Scion’s Senior Vice President. “In fact, that’s a core function of our consulting practice.” More than $3 billion of student housing has been developed, acquired or renovated following Scion’s recommendations.
Miromar Development, based in Estero, Florida, is a real estate development company with a portfolio of residential and commercial properties including Miromar Outlets, Miromar Design Center and Miromar Lakes Beach & Golf Club, awarded #1 Community in the United States by the National Association of Home Builders.
Created by the Florida Legislature in 1991 and opened in Fall 1997, Florida Gulf Coast University has grown to enroll nearly 14,000 students in colleges of arts and sciences, education, health professions, business and engineering. Its 760-acre campus includes a 15-acre solar energy field.
