FREDERICTON, NEW BRUNSWICK. The University of New Brunswick has announced the selection of a team led by The Scion Group to provide a Residence Capital Renewal Plan for its Fredericton campus. Scion will partner with Ernst & Young, Diamond Schmitt Architects and Hanscomb to provide the plan. The team’s work will culminate in an implementation plan that includes the phasing, financing, construction and management elements necessary to renew UNB’s student residence offerings.
The advisory team will evaluate the student rental market, gather student and stakeholder feedback, assess current residences and review student housing options at institutions with which UNB competes for students. Finally, the Scion-led team will develop recommendations along with a roadmap for implementation.
As the oldest English-language university in Canada, UNB offers over 75 undergraduate and graduate programs and currently enrolls approximately 11,400 students between its two campuses. Its Fredericton campus also houses one of the oldest student residences in Canada, Lady Beaverbrook Residence, built in 1928.
