SCARBOROUGH, ONTARIO. University of Toronto Scarborough has engaged The Scion Group to provide a detailed Student Residence Market and Demand Analysis, to support the financial model for a proposed new student residence. This engagement marks the 13th Ontario campus where Scion has advised on student housing, including all three University of Toronto campuses.
Scion will estimate demand for the contemplated project by conducting focus group and whiteboard sessions, stakeholder interviews and providing an assessment of off-campus market conditions. Scion will also advise on room configuration and ratios, overall space requirements, floor layouts and appropriate rental rates, and will make recommendations based on its findings and knowledge of current market trends and design.
University of Toronto Scarborough was established in 1964 as Scarborough College and became a university in 1972. Along with a variety of undergraduate programs, it is the only University of Toronto campus to offer co-op and internship opportunities to its 13,000 students. The new Toronto Pan Am Sports Centre, located on the campus, hosted the 2015 Pan Am Games and is now an important hub for athletics, both locally and nationally.
