SCION AND MORGAN STANLEY FORM NEW JV TO ACQUIRE OXFORD, MISS. COMMUNITIES
The Scion Group and Morgan Stanley Investment Management, through its managed investment funds, have announced a joint venture to acquire a portfolio of student housing communities in Oxford, Mississippi, comprised of 600 apartments, townhomes and cottages with more than 2,000 beds.
The acquisition of College Town Oxford, a cottage-style community, closed earlier this month. The community has been re-branded as Redpoint Oxford, joining Scion’s family of Redpoint communities nationwide. The remaining acquisitions of a garden-style community near the campus and four smaller downtown Oxford properties are expected to close later in 2025.
“Cottage and townhome communities comprise more than one-quarter of Scion’s national portfolio and are now over 25,000 beds,” said Rob Bronstein, Scion’s Chief Executive Officer. “These have consistently proven to be among the most desirable and high-performing student housing assets. We are very pleased to add Redpoint Oxford in this attractive category.”
