The Scion Group is pleased to announce the completion of several capital projects during 2021 and early 2022, totaling $33 million of investment in upgrades across its portfolio of student living communities.
Large-scale renovations occurred at communities serving: Clemson University, the University of South Carolina, Virginia Tech, the University of Central Florida, the University of Alabama at Birmingham, the University of Florida, Purdue University, Penn State University, the University of Pennsylvania and Western Michigan University.
Many of the locations joined Scion’s Alight and Lark brand families in connection with this work. Each community features substantial upgrades and renovations to common spaces and apartments. For example:
At Alight Blacksburg, formerly The Village at Blacksburg, serving Virginia Tech, renovations include updated paint, kitchen and bathroom cabinets and countertops, new appliances and plumbing fixtures, and a remodeled clubhouse.
Alight Columbia was formerly known as Riverside and serves the University of South Carolina. The largest of these projects, upgrades included exterior updates, new bathrooms and kitchens, new hardwood-style flooring, new appliances and a complete clubhouse interior remodeling.
Alight Birmingham, formerly University House, which serves the University of Alabama at Birmingham, received updated hardwood-style flooring in apartments plus new cabinets, countertops and plumbing fixtures. The community updated study rooms and added a game room.
