ANN ARBOR, MI. The Scion Group has delivered a framework plan for the third phase of the University of Michigan’s comprehensive facility improvement program for campus housing, known as the Residential Life Initiative (RLI). The University engaged Scion for this assignment concurrently with graduate and undergraduate housing market studies, in order to provide a comprehensive and fully informed facility and phasing plan.
Scion reviewed information from the first two phases of RLI and the results of its undergraduate and graduate market studies, along with facility information provided by architects SmithGroupJJR, and developed several recommendations. Scion then collaborated with University stakeholders to finalize recommended program plans and perform financial analyses. Scion’s findings and recommendations are being presented to University leadership as they consider how to best execute the third phase of RLI.
The University of Michigan enrolls more than 43,000 students in the 19 schools and colleges, providing housing to approximately 9,300 undergraduate students and 1,100 graduate students in 23 residence halls and apartment communities.
